Zusammenfassung
The project aims to analyse the effect of the electric fields on the structure-dynamics-function relationships of the heme protein cytochrome c (Cyt). The protein is bound to membrane models, i.e., self-assembled monolayers on electrodes, and phospholipid vesicles, which allow variation of the interfacial electric field. On the basis of the vibrational Stark effect of synthetic reporter groups which are attached in the protein/membrane interface and incorporated at different positions in the interior of the protein the local electric field strength is mapped.
