Zusammenfassung

Repair of DNA lesions is performed by a series of highly specialized repair proteins which induce further large conformational changes within the duplex upon lesion binding. The conformational changes induced by the lesion in the DNA duplex are essential for the recognition process. The conformational perturbations induced by the repair proteins upon lesion binding are the basis for the ability of the repair enzymes to cut the damaged bases out of the duplex.
