Zusammenfassung
The project is directed towards an understanding how membrane proximal signalling events are triggered by extracellular and/or membrane associated ligand binding. The model system employed consists of the membrane domain of the cognate transducer of the photoreceptor sensory rhodopsin II. Recent results have shown that light activation of sensory rhodopsin II leads to a rotary or screw-like motion of the C-terminal transmembrane helix (TM2) of the transducer.
