For many cytochromes P450 (CYPs) electrons are provided by NADPH, via a short redox chain consisting of NADPH adrenodoxin oxidoreductase (AdR) - adrenodoxin (adx) - CYP. Insight in the protein:protein interactions in the redox chain of steroid hydroxylating CYPs can lead to a better understanding of steroid hormone biosynthesis and dysfunctions connected with this, such as hypertension and congestive heart failure in the human body.
