The effenciency of bulk heterojunction photovoltaic devices is limited by the short diffusion length of radiatively created charge carriers, mostly in the range of ca. 20 - 30 nm. Therefore novel design strategies towards efficient bulk heterojunction photovoltaic devices have to be developed.
