Neuronal Control of Flight in Drosophila
Projektnummer
0050764
Zusammenfassung
The fruit fly Drosophila provides a powerful model for studying the sensory mechanisms underlying flight control. As part of this system, approximately 100 specialized sensory receptors in each wing, the campaniform receptors, respond to the mechanical deformations of the wing that occur during flight. The aim is to understand the function of these mechanoreceptors (and their underlying neuronal circuits) in flight control. The interdiciplinary approach is based on the fruit fly, because this model organism is amenable to cellular and molecular manipulations and behavioral experiments....
