Zusammenfassung

The Yuracaré people live dispersed in several communities in a large area that is situated at the foothills of central Bolivia. Their language, which has no known genetic links to any other language, spoken by at most 2500 people, is in danger of becoming extinct in the next couple of decades. Another important reason to document Yuracaré is that its speakers live in an area which might be essential for understanding the complicated linguistic situation of the area, situated as it is in between three major cultural areas of the Andes, the Amazon and the Chaco.
