The topic of the project centres on exploring the spectroscopic method Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) in so-called Heavy Fermion Systems both experimentally and theoretically, focussing on the intermetallics YbRh2Si2 and YbIr2Si2. These have recently emerged as unique compounds displaying an ESR signal of the so-called Kondo-ion Yb at temperatures so low that no ESR active spin probe could be expected from a standard Heavy Fermion scenario.
