Zusammenfassung
The Margherita subdivision of Assam State, Northeast India, is linguistically and culturally very rich. Groups speaking languages of 5 families, Tibeto-Burman, Tai-Kadai, Austroasiatic (Munda), Dravidian and Indo-European, are present. The area with a population of around 150,000 now includes many endangered languages, of which Tai, Singpho and Tangsa are three.
