The proposed project will focus on spin coherence, or, rather, spin decoherence, in two-dimensional systems, mainly in the regime of the quantum Hall effect, in which changes in the electronic structure induced by the magnetic field offer macroscopic coherence phenomena to be observed. Spin coherence phenomena, such as spin dynamics in an external magnetic field, or in the built-in effective field of the spin-orbit coupling, are believed to be tunable by external factors such as gate voltage, strain, or the direction of the applied magnetic field.
