Life-history theory provides evolutionary explanations for numerous phenomena of human and animal life cycles. To date however, there have not been any studies on the impact of mortality crises on personal life histories in this context. On the basis of historical family data from the Krummhörn population (18 and 19 centuries), this project thesis attempts to investigate the impact of mortality crises on life histories.
