Zusammenfassung

The Acochlidia are a poorly known, basal opisthobranch gastropod group of Mesozoic origin. The only 35 acochlidian species reported worldwide show, however, an enormous biological and morphological diversity (e.g. hermaphrodism vs. gonochorism, aphallic vs. highly complex genital structures, marine/interstitial vs. limnic/benthic), and thus, a fascinating evolutionary history. This study plans to investigate the origin, phylogeny and evolution of the Acochlidia as a suitable invertebrate model taxon.
