Zusammenfassung

A major reason for the high biodiversity of parasites is considered to be adaptive speciation after host-switching. Central to such a speciation process are genes which show differing fitnesses in the old and new hosts. Individual genomic regions, even without complete isolation of the diverging populations, cannot be freely exchanged when such genes are present.
