The evolution of sex is an important but still poorly understood topic in evolutionary biology and ecology even though we know that there are significant consequences for populations and communities. One of the main ideas for the evolution of sex is that sex is advantageous because it allows a population to co-evolve with another species (Red Queen Hypothesis).
