The genital morphology of an organism is related to differences in modes of reproduction and fertilization. Hence, the comparative investigation of copulatory organs will give important insights into the evolution of reproduction and life history. Reproductive morphology has attracted much attention in evolutionary biology research, especially in animals having internal fertilisation.
