Zusammenfassung

Hundreds of unregulated artisanal mines for tantalum ("coltan") and tin have been and still are worked in Burundi, eastern Congo (Kivu), Rwanda and Uganda. Earlier industrial mining declined because of various reasons. These activities transformed large areas into degraded and hazardous land.
