The co-evolution between species as well as that between the two sexes are major drivers of organic diversity. The recent evidence from species co-evolution showing that the environment largely defines whether the interaction between species is beneficial, harmful or neutral to the interacting parties has not been taken up by researchers studying male-female coevolution,including sperm-egg interactions.
