Zusammenfassung

During the first project phase, some 160 wetlands were inventoried in four representative landscapes in Kenya and Tanzania. Different wetland types and determining factors of land use were investigated, and biophysical characteristics and their dynamics were quantified. Five main wetland categories were identified and their attributes described. Five PhD-theses summarize the findings and provide the basis to evaluate future agricultural production potential and vulnerability toward human interventions.
