Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for about 23% of the global total population without access to improved water resources (UNDP, 2003). While the rest of the world is on track in meeting the millennium target, Africa and particularly Sub-Saharan Africa is not likely to meet this target (WHO and UNICEF Report, 2010).This research will essentially focus on Water Loss Management Strategies, which are based on attempts to increase service coverage at the same time reducing UFW to accepted levels (e.g., less than 10% as suggested by Lahlou, 2001).
