A novel approach will be employed to design and produce flexible, free-standing nano-wires made of metal core (Au, Ag) jacketed with a polymer shell. The procedure consists of a one-step process in which morphology changes of photosensitive tethered thin polymer films upon UV-irradiation will be utilized for self-organized encapsulation of soft metals within polymeric material.
