The main scientific objective is to refine the knowledge of the physics near magnetized compact objects. This requires the use of the most advanced methods in general relativity to account for the large spacetime curvature near these objects, together with a deep knowledge of the laws of electrodynamics and how these are modified by the complex microphysics accompanying gravitating compact objects.
