The first major objective is to identify the functional insect pollinators in Georgia and Kyrgyzstan of one major crop plant important to the economy and diet of both countries, namely apple. The second major objective is to evaluate potentially major causes of decline in functional insect pollinators, namely (i) habitat deterioration and (ii) pathogen spill-over, through their effects on pollinator population connectivity.
