Climate change mitigation by curbing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is one of the biggest global challenges. Decarbonising economic development in fast-growing middle income countries is a necessity to meet this challenge. Decarbonisation may, however, have adverse effects on economic growth and hence poverty reduction.
