Zusammenfassung

In the second project phase investigations shall focus on the questions how much area a forest must have and how closely connected to other forests it must be to possess characteristic forest traits in terms of biodiversity and ecosystem functions. Moreover,the consequences of forest degradation and conversion into pioneer forests and shrublands are to be studied.
