Zusammenfassung

ASCETE (Advanced Simulation of Coupled Earthquake and Tsunami Events) deals with the generation and impact of tsunami events, depending on the complex interaction of rupture mechanics and hydrodynamic wave propagation and inundation. So far, a sophisticated modeling infrastructure has been delevoped. To lift this unique effort to the next level, the follow up-project will apply these novel methods for a better understanding of tsunami earthquakes, for determining uncertainties stemming from the unknown rupture characteristics, and ultimately for mitigating and preparing for disaster.
