Target language of this documentation project is the Dene, an Athabascan language spoken in Canada. The Canadian-German documentation project develops an interdisciplinary approach. As the community of Déline makes a transition to self government, there has been an increased interest in stories, song, and concepts of place in order to better understand what "self government" means in the Dene culture.
