Could bio-inspired ultrasound reflectors be used as landmarks to assist orientation and navigation of sonar guided systems? The research idea is based on the observation that floral reflectors in South and Central America are shaped by evolution to specifically "respond" to sonar signals from bats. Autonomous systems such as robots and driverless vehicles are often guided by artificial landmarks, including visual signals, laser beacons, and omni-directional radar reflectors.
