Zusammenfassung
Remarkable sex-differences exist in non-communicable disease susceptibilities and rates of progression. Gender research classically investigates sex hormone regulated intracellular signaling and transcriptomes, but has completely ignored the translatome or the ribosome with its constitutive and regulatory components. The applicants challenge current biomedical paradigms by proposing a novel concept of intrinsic sex differences in the translational apparatus in somatic cells to explain the evolutionary more efficient cellular adaptation capacity of the female organism.
