Zusammenfassung

This project deals with an ancient tradition of literature in which subjects give an account of their lives by engaging in a dialogue with themselves or some kind of 'alter ego' that is inspired by legal procedures. It also foregrounds the question of violence and its many possible functions in this context: as external circumstances that trigger the narrative, as part of the subject's psychic make-up, or as an inherent feature of the narrative itself.
