"Rogue Sexuality" argues that early modern popular literature constructed rogues - a group that included vagrants, beggars, prostitutes, and thieves - as a dangerous "promiscuous generation" consumed with "sensual lust". This depiction, however, also associated rogues with a seductive sexual independence that acted as a powerful solvent of social boundaries.
