Today's pH measurement in aqueous solutions is based on an unsatisfactory definition of proton activity, that is not directly coupled to the international system of basic units. The measurement of acidity still relies on glass electrodes or field effect transistors which require a laborious calibration by the help of standard buffer solutions. This project aims to overcome this deficit and wants to establish a new measurement principle omitting standard buffer solutions.
