Since the beginning of the 2000s, the construction of a series of hydro-power projects has severely devastated the environment and the livelihoods along the Çoruh valley in Northeastern Turkey. Planned as the highest hydro-power project on the Çoruh River, the Yusufeli Dam is expected to further contribute to social, ecological and economic damaging in the valley.
