The therapy of wound infections consists of two main pillars: surgical removal of infected tissue and drug therapy against bacteria either using systemic antibiotic therapy or antiseptics which are applied directly to the wound. However, the development of bacterial resistances against antibiotics originating from reckless antibiotic prescriptions is one of the biggest problems in today's medicine.
