Cancer treatment has made significant progress within the last decades, but there are still no cost efficient methods and devices available for routine diagnostic screening. This project aims at a high-throughput, label-free cell classification method, which allows for the detection of circulating tumor cells in blood. The concept is based on optical cell tomography to access the characteristic shape information of cancer cells in micro-fluidic flow.
