Interfaces are at the heart of electronic devices, e.g. transistors, lasers, and solar cells. A materials junction makes possible the nano-scale manipulation of electrons in the cross-border region, opening the way for new physics and applications. However, a deep theoretical understanding and reliable control of the physics of interfaces is still a challenge.
