Zusammenfassung

Liquids are typically non-porous (i.e. do not own persistent void space). As such, liquids do display a nearly linear increase of gas solubility with increasing gas pressure. An exception is blood, which possesses a sigmoidal solubility curve for oxygen as a function of the oxygen partial pressure. Even though the activated oxygen binding of hemoglobin is long known, such activated binding processes featuring sigmoidal solubility curves have not been realized for synthetic liquids thus far.
