This project proposes an entirely new concept in animal tagging that reduces the stress and/or physiological effects of conventional capture or darting to virtually zero. The so called "bur tagging" refers to a seed that has hooks or teeth designed to catch on the fur or feathers of passing animals. The basic premise is that the animal tag will be loaded into a dispenser that will attach the tag to the animal when it passes.
