Zusammenfassung
Most geo-hazards are related to both, deformation and chemical reactions within the earth. It is known that dehydration reactions (mineral transformations from which water is released) are of great importance for convergent plate-tectonics. Yet, the significance of mineral reactions is only marginally studied. Recent results indicate that deformation leads to local stress variations that trigger strongly localised reactions which may lead to run-away processes. The authors want to test how a quick expansion and compaction of fluids affects the dissolution and precipitation of minerals....
