Currently, more than half of the wealth in most OECD countries is notearned but inherited. The central question of the interdisciplinaryresearch project is: How and in what way can the different narrativesexplain the (re)production of wealth in Germany? Building on theconcept of the "deserving rich", the research project will identifydiscourses, instruments and institutional arrangements of wealthgenesis and examine the arguments of "deserved" and "undeserved"wealth.
