Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is developing a leading position in the field of Earth System Sciences. FAU is already strong in numerous sub-disciplines of earth, life and geosciences, but aims to enhance its relevance by (i) bringing together the different threads of earth system sciences and (ii) expanding "big data" competencies and interdisciplinary modeling aspects.
