Lignin is an abundant biopolymer with considerable untapped potential. It occurs as a by-product of paper and biofuel production and is usually disposed of as waste. The aim of the project is to utilize lignin waste streams for the development of crop protection products. Crop plants are exposed to phytopathogens such as bacteria, viruses and fungi, which can significantly reduce crop yields.
