Language is individual. Individual speakers encounter linguisticinput, build their own model of language based on this input, andproduce language in their own individual style. No two peopleencounter exactly the same input, nor do they produce the same kind oflanguage. This intuitive fact is currently not addressed in linguistictheory, and surprisingly, little is known about individual linguisticvariation.
