The project focuses on the recent influx of capital from conservation philanthropy and nature tourism in protected areas of the Global South. The utilization of extreme wealth by a handful of super-rich actors from North America and Europe to influence decisions that significantly affect large portions of the planet, particularly in the Global South, raises critical questions concerning social justice, equality, development, and local governance capacities, which have not received adequate attention.
