The Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, in close cooperation with partner institutions in Ukraine, Europe and the United States, and with financial support of the Volkswagen Foundation, has started an initiative to support Ukrainian scholars in their effort to found an Institute for Advanced Study. In October 2023, the founding phase was launched in the form of a virtual and hybrid fellowship program: the Virtual Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study (VUIAS).
